ASTRASYN
ASTRASYN is the art of performing magic at the right time. The technical term is Astro-Synchronicity. As a Wizard or Witch, you are required to learn the basics of Astrology.
Using an Ephemeris: Step-by-Step Guide
Apprentice Wizards and Witches, Let’s break down how to read an ephemeris using the provided image. We’ll go through each part to ensure clarity and understanding.
1. The Day Column on the Left
The first column on the left lists the days of the month. For example, “01 Th” represents August 1st, a Thursday.
2. Zodiac Sign Symbols
Below is a table of zodiac sign symbols for easy reference:
Symbol | Sign |
---|---|
Aries | |
Taurus | |
Gemini | |
Cancer | |
Leo | |
Virgo | |
Libra | |
Scorpio | |
Sagittarius | |
Capricorn | |
Aquarius | |
Pisces |
3. Planet Symbols
Below is a table of planet symbols for easy reference:
Symbol | Planet |
---|---|
☉ | Sun |
☽ | Moon |
☿ | Mercury |
Venus | |

♃ | Jupiter |
♄ | Saturn |
♅ | Uranus |
♆ | Neptune |
♇ | Pluto |
4. Reading the Degrees:
Let’s use the first day of August as our example.
Example for August 1, 2024:
- Sun (☉) in Leo (): 9°24′
- Moon (☽) in Cancer (): 23°00′
- Mercury (☿) in Scorpio (): 22°30′
Step-by-Step Explanation:
a. The Day Column:
- Look at the “Day” column to find “01 Th,” which stands for the 1st of August, Thursday.
b. Sun in Leo ():
- Locate the Sun’s symbol (☉) in the row for August 1.
- You will see “0924,” which means the Sun is at 9 degrees and 24 minutes in Leo.
c. Moon in Cancer ():
- Locate the Moon’s symbol (☽) in the same row.
- You will see “2300,” which means the Moon is at 23 degrees and 0 minutes in Cancer.
d. Mercury in Scorpio ():
- Locate Mercury’s symbol (☿) in the same row.
- You will see “2230,” which means Mercury is at 22 degrees and 30 minutes in Scorpio.
Analogy for Degrees
Think of the zodiac as a giant clock:
- The entire zodiac is a full circle, just like a clock face, and is divided into 360 degrees (like the 360° in a full circle).
- Each zodiac sign covers 30 degrees of this circle, just like each hour on a clock face covers 30 minutes.
- The numbers you see (e.g., 9°24′) tell you how far into the sign the planet is.
For instance, if the Sun is at 9°24′ in Leo:
- This means it is 9 degrees and 24 minutes into the sign of Leo.
- Imagine starting at 0° of Leo (like starting at 12:00 on a clock) and moving forward to 9° (like moving to 9 minutes past 12 on a clock), and then a bit further to 24 minutes.
Summary
By understanding how to read an ephemeris, you can determine the exact positions of the planets at any given time. This foundational skill is essential for interpreting your natal and transit charts.
With celestial blessings, Your Astrological Guide
The process of Astrasyn involves measuring in “degree” the position of the “transiting planets” (where the planets are right now), to where any of the planets in your natal chart are. For example, let’s take the moon in your natal chart and assume it is at 10 degrees in Leo. Now we want to see if we can find a transiting planet within any of the distances (degrees) listed below. So, if you found a transiting planet (let’s just say, the moon) 60° away, then you would have a “sextile” between your natal moon and your the transiting moon (at this time). Please note that each sign in the horoscope has 30° just like a slice of pie). And you are allowed a tolerance of 3° before and after each placement. For example, if the transiting planet is 57° away from your natal planet, that still counts, and so does 63° away (because it’s still +/- 3°). The sextile (60°) is a good aspect. So your next step would be to understand the meaning of the moon and the sign it is in (both for your natal chart and for the transiting chart). Use an ephemeris online to find where the transiting planets now are or will be when you want them to be in the future. Then you are able to plan the best times for a ritual. For example, Venus (for love) in your natal chart is going to be 60 degrees away from the transiting Venus in a week from now. Now plan your spell’s magic to work (for Love or Romance) on the day of that favorable Venus transit. Now, as stated before, you must also take into account the meaning of the planet’s placement in the sign it happens to be in. And once you understand these concept, you are ready to move on to understanding what each house represents (or means) and learn how to combine all three of these factors (Planet, Aspect, and House placements) to interpret a more accurate reading. This is the most basic (elementary) process for performing Astrasyn.

Definitions of Major Aspects
Conjunction (0°):
- Symbol: ☌
- Meaning: When two planets are in the same sign and very close to each other, their energies blend together. This can create a powerful and focused influence in the area of life represented by the sign and house they are in.
Sextile (60°):
- Symbol: ⚹
- Meaning: This aspect occurs when planets are two signs apart, creating opportunities and a supportive energy flow. It’s a favorable aspect that encourages cooperation and the utilization of skills.
Square (90°):
- Symbol: □
- Meaning: When planets are three signs apart, they form a square, which is a challenging aspect. It often brings tension and requires effort to overcome obstacles, but can also lead to growth and strength.
Trine (120°):
- Symbol: △
- Meaning: This harmonious aspect occurs when planets are four signs apart. It indicates natural talents and an effortless flow of energies between the planets involved, often bringing luck and ease.
Opposition (180°):
- Symbol: ☍
- Meaning: Planets in opposition are six signs apart and are directly opposite each other in the chart. This aspect represents a need to balance and integrate opposing energies, often highlighting areas of conflict or duality.
Beneficial Aspects in Magic
Positive aspects like trines and sextiles can be particularly beneficial in magic. For instance, if you are performing a spell for abundance, a trine between your natal Jupiter (planet of expansion and luck) and transiting Venus (planet of love and money) can enhance your intentions, creating a harmonious and supportive energy for manifesting wealth.
However, it’s essential to understand that the universe operates according to a divine plan. While aligning your magical practices with favorable astrological aspects can improve the chances of a positive outcome, it does not guarantee success. The cosmic forces at play are complex and beyond complete control, reminding us to remain humble and respectful of the universal order.
